Benji Webbe: SKINDRED

Fresh off the back of their electrifying, sold-out UK tour promoting their latest album SMILE, we sat down with none other than Benji Webbe, the dynamic frontman of Skindred. Known for their high-energy performances and genre-blending sound, Skindred has once again captivated fans across the country. In this exclusive interview, Benji gives us a behind-the-scenes look at life on the road, shares stories about his unconventional home decor, and reveals how he brings a bit of “home” with him wherever he goes. Dive in to discover the wild, unapologetic world of Benji and the secrets behind making any space feel like a rock 'n' roll haven.

If your home could speak, what do you think it would say about you?

Our home would probably say, “These humans are some seriously cool fuckers! Caring souls who know exactly how to turn a house into a warm, inviting sanctuary.” It would boast about the way we’ve thoughtfully infused every corner with personality, making it feel vibrant and alive.

What’s your favourite room in your house and why?

Choosing a favourite room in our house feels nearly impossible because every space has its own unique charm. Our entire home radiates a story, making each room special in its own way.

Do you have any quirky or unique decor in your home that would shock your fans?

Absolutely! Our decor is filled with fascinating pieces, but one that never fails to catch people's attention is our chainmail bannisters on the stairs. They’re unconventional and give the place a badass vibe—definitely a talking point when guests come over.

When you’re on tour, how do you make your tour bus or hotel room feel like home? Do you take anything special with you?

The one item I never leave home without is my Amazon Fire Stick. It’s a lifesaver on the road, bringing the comforts of home and my favourite shows wherever I go. Streaming a familiar series can make even the most unfamiliar hotel room feel cozy.

What’s the first thing you do when you get back home after a tour?

The first thing I do is unpack my suitcase and tackle the mountain of laundry. Tour life leads to a buildup of dirty clothes, and getting everything washed feels like a reset back to home life.

How do you stay connected with home when on the road?

Staying connected is so much easier these days thanks to technology. My phone is like a portable version of home—with apps like Ring to check the doorbell, and Zoom and Skype for face-to-face chats. It’s wild to think how much has changed compared to 15 years ago. Home is literally just a tap away.

Have you incorporated any elements from your travels or tours into your home decor?

Definitely. Our TV room is like a nod to the vibe of a tour bus, and everyone who visits always points it out. It’s cozy, eclectic, and full of memories from the road.

Is there anything you’ve always wanted to add to your home but haven’t yet?

Honestly, I love my home as it is and feel it’s complete. If I ever wanted to add more, I’d probably need a new home to start over. I’m incredibly blessed and grateful to have a space that reflects my journey and passions.

What’s the most rock ‘n’ roll thing about your home?

Our downstairs toilet. I swear it might just be the most rock ‘n’ roll loo on the planet, with a vibe that screams attitude and rebellion!

If you could change anything about your current home, what would it be?

I’d love to get rid of a few annoying neighbours. Seriously, if I could make some of them wankers disappear, I would!

If you could only keep one piece of art or decor in your home, what would it be and why?

It has to be my barbecue setup. It’s more than just a grill—it’s an epic centerpiece for gatherings, and nothing brings people together like good food and great vibes.

What’s the most unique or unusual item in your home?

Again, I have to mention the downstairs toilet. It’s far from normal and adds an unforgettable twist to the house that everyone remembers!
